After serving as a New York State Family Court Judge from April 1991 until April 2001, Mr. Segal joined Margery A. Greenberg and, together, they opened Segal & Greenberg LLP. Prior to his judicial appointment, Mr. Segal directed the Building Services 32B-J Legal Services Fund, a prepaid legal services program for the members of one of the nation’s largest local unions. In the years preceding his leadership there, he held other positions, including as the Assistant Director of DC37 Municipal Employees Legal Services, and the Director of Litigation at Bronx Legal Services Corporation. A highly regarded expert, Mr. Segal frequently lectures on domestic relations law, interstate and international child abduction, trial practice, evidence, and negotiation theory and has consulted on statutory reform of child abuse, neglect and termination of parental rights laws.

As a persuasive litigator and creative negotiator, Ms. Greenberg established her own legal practice in 1993, prior to starting Segal & Greenberg LLP in 2001. She has devoted her career to serving clients in family and matrimonial matters. In addition, Ms. Greenberg is a skilled mediator; she received a New York State certification in mediation and is a court appointed mediator for the New York State Office of Court Administration’s alternative dispute resolution (ADR) program. An active member of the bar, she was formerly co-chair of the Matrimonial and Family Law Committee of the New York Women’s Bar Association, and now serves on the Interdisciplinary Committee of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Ms. Greenberg lectures at bar associations and union legal services organizations and, at the request of the Office of Court Administration, has lectured on the Hague Child Abduction Convention to court attorneys and referees. Ms. Greenberg is rated as a Super Lawyer in Family Law and Domestic Relations, and received an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review ratings, an honor reserved only for about 10% of all attorneys in her field.

In 2018, Olga Batsedis joined Segal & Greenberg LLP, bringing many years of experience in estate administration, planning and litigation, and in family and matrimonial law, and guardianships. In addition to her practice, Ms. Batsedis is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University and volunteers her services for high school students participating in the New York City Mock Trial Competition. A 2004 graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, she was Managing Editor of the Hofstra University School of Law Family Court Review, where she published a note, “Embryo Adoption: A Science Fiction or an Alternative to Traditional Adoption?” in October 2003. Ms. Batsedis also holds a Master of Science in Justice, Law and Society from American University in Washington, D.C. Ms. Batsedis is admitted to practice law in New York, Florida, the District of Columbia, and before the U.S Court of Appeals (Second Circuit), and U.S. District Court (Eastern and the Southern Districts of New York). She is fluent in Greek.

Sara L. Hiltzik joined Segal & Greenberg LLP in 2020, bringing many years of experience in family law to the firm. For over a decade, Ms. Hiltzik worked at The Children’s Law Center; most recently she served as the Co-Director of its Bronx office and, before that, she worked as one of their trial attorneys in Kings County Family Court. Ms. Hiltzik began her legal practice as an attorney for the New York City Administration of Children’s Services. Ms. Hiltzik is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association, where she chaired and remains a member of the Children and the Law Committee. She also sits on the Council for Children, and is a member of Family Court Judicial Appointment & Assignment Process Work Group. A 2005 graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Ms. Hiltzik is certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution and in Divorce Mediation.
